inktober 2018
Prompts are a great way to exercise my drawing. Illustrator and Animator, Jake Parker, started Inktober in October 2009 as an annual drawing challenge. For the 31 days of the month anyone who enjoys drawing can use a word from the official prompt list to launch an idea for a drawing. More in my IG account.
inktober 2019
It’s an exciting commitment for me to develop a drawing every day for Inktober, and it encourages me to think of images I probably would not have come up with otherwise. This time around, I decided to carry the same characters of the boy and his dog throughout. More in my IG account.
what should I draw? 2020
During COVID lockdown, my family and I had only been living in Madrid, Spain for four months. Spain had some of the most strict restrictions, especially for children. I was amazed and became inspired by the kindness and generosity of the children’s book community of illustrators and authors, and their efforts to make our everyday a little brighter with stories and images and incredible resources. I found out about the “What Should I Draw” initiative started by @amedyckman and @charlenedraws (under the @DrawWhat Twitter handle and #WSID). Illustrators were doing drawings for kids based on kids’ ideas, which parents would tweet and tag. Inspired by that project and aware that chidren were suddenly experiencing a huge change in lifestyle—I could see it in my own daughter, I asked her and various friends’ children to suggest ideas for drawings and drew my interpretations. I then shared them with the kids and on social media. More in my IG account.
